Together We Make The Difference.

 

"We were humbled to have the opportunity to serve the Korean community. Many of us were previously unaware of the great need in this particular community, ranging from linguistic isolation that poses great challenges to physician-patient communication to misunderstanding about the US health care system that lead to underutilization of services. Through this event, we learned more about the challenges that the community faces as well as different ways by which we might combat them. We are very grateful for this opportunity and hope to have more outreach events such as this one in the near future!"

Approximately 100 people participated at the Health Fair held at the Baltimore Korean Catholic Church in Maryland held on November 8, 2015.  Fifty-one (51) people had their blood draw to for cholesterol, glucose, and hepatitis B testing as well as blood pressure and obesity screening.  Physicians were onsite for free consultation.  This event was held in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Public Health, Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) of Johns Hopkins University and Hepatitis B Initiative of D.C.
